I’m Christopher Teat, a designer with a blue-collar background, originally from Milwaukee, WI. Before stepping into design, I spent over a decade working in construction and trades. During that time, I’ve learned the value of precision, problem-solving, and building things that actually serve people.
That hands-on experience shapes how I approach design today. I’ve always been drawn to UX design, even before I had the language for it. Over time, I realized the same mindset I used in the construction field, understanding problems, working with structure, and creating practical solutions, naturally blends into UX. That realization is what pushed me to make the transition.
My approach to design is simple. As a designer, my goal is to create a layout that’s clear and useful for the user. I focus on creating experiences that feel natural, while removing real issues for real users. I want to strengthen my skills toward structuring information, mapping user flows, and turning ideas into practical solutions.
As I continue to grow as a designer, my goal is to bridge the gap between blue-collar thinking and UX design.
